- Entrance qualification for higher education and artistic aptitude
- six-month practical in a cabinetmaker´s workshop or carpentry, shop building or other building trades.
- If the applicant has completed a professional training, he/she can take up the studies after a minimum of three months of the practical in one of the following trades and then finish it during semester breaks of the first year of study: cabinet maker, carpenter, builder (particularly special interior fitting professions), or shop builder. Acceptance of other practical work experience is determined by the examination board upon request.
Exceptions:
In the case of outstanding talent, combined with practical experience in the field, the entrance qualification for higher education can be foregone.

Study information day
In January of each year, a study information day is held at the university for applicants. There is general information on the university available, and the different study programmes present themselves. You can get in touch with students and assistants. The date for the student information day will be on our website from the middle of December.
Presentation and annual exhibition
Semester projects are presented at the end of January/ beginning of February. The presentations are not open to the public but if you wish see them you will certainly find students who will show you their projects.On the second weekend in July, the university´s traditional summer exhibition and party takes place. At this occasion, all projects are exhibited for the public. You are cordially invited to come. Exact dates will be issued here ca. four weeks before.
Portfolio consultations
Should you wish to have a portfolio consultation before the entrance test, we can offer two dates: Wednesday, January 7, 2009, and Wednesday, June 24, 2009, from 1 p.m. onwards. Please arrange a mandatory date with us. BA_IA(at)burg-halle.de
Presentation of the university at your university or college
Presentations of our students at your institution can be arranged as part of a study project. If you can find a teacher or trainer who supports your wish; if you can find a minimum of fifteen other interested persons; and if we can have 60 minutes in a room with black-out curtains, then we are very happy to visit.
